Amelie from Munich, living in Zurich

Hi everyone

I’m Amelie (32). I was born and raised in Munich and – after living in Australia and Ireland for a while – ended up in beautiful Switzerland where I now live in a tiny village close to the city of Zurich. I’ve always had a passion for languages. I’m fluent in German and English and also speak French and Italian (albeit less fluently )

I’m in the final year of my PhD in sociology and am currently trying to sort out what to do with my life after a long journey through academia. I’ve been teaching various university modules over the last years and am working part-time as an assistant instructor at a local paragliding school. As I find sharing my knowledge and helping others learn immensely enjoyable and gratifying, tutoring on Chatterbug seemed like a great opportunity to do so in the field of languages.

In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors – going for long walks, hiking and paragliding – and gardening. My big dream is to adopt two goats and train them as trekking goats. Unfortunately, my landlady isn’t quite convinced of this idea yet

I also love seeing the world, exploring different cultures and making new friends. I’ve travelled the Australian East coast from Cairns to Melbourne, have visited some countries in Asia (China, Vietnam and Thailand) and Africa (Tunisia, South Africa), had some glimpses of the US coasts (in the West: from San Francisco to San Diego and back via Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe, in the East: North Carolina and New York City). I also was lucky enough to travel around Europe a good bit where I’ve been to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Cyprus, Malta, Greece, France, Belgium, England, Scotland and Ireland.
Have I been to your country?
My all time travel companion is my cuddly toy “Schnitzel”, who, all at once, serves as travelling buddy (when I’m on the road by myself), pillow and sort of a travel diary. Here are some of his adventures:

I’m very much looking forward to meeting many of you in my lessons soon!

Bienvenue Amelie! I’m sure you’ll enjoy tutoring here!
