Hello to all you Chatterbugs and Beekeepers!
My name is Asami (she/her), and I am a mixed-race, third culture individual from Florida in the USA. Currently, I live in Madrid, Spain . I’m fluent in English and proficient in Spanish. I can speak a little Japanese and Georgian, too!
I have a Master of Education degree from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Florida . I also have a TEFL certificate and an active U.S. teaching license for ESL and English Language Arts. I have been teaching learners of all ages and backgrounds in schools, language academies, and online in different countries since 2012 . I have also worked as a Teacher Trainer and as an Education Manager at a startup. At the moment, I am studying for my Executive MBA degree as I am fully transitioning into the EdTech space .
I encourage everyone to live in a different country at least once in their life because my experiences abroad in Georgia , South Korea , Costa Rica , and Spain have been incredible! Learning a new language is challenging, but so rewarding. You begin to see the world in a completely different way and deepen your empathy toward others.
In my spare time, I love to dance (any salsa dancers, here?), swim , and try new food . I’m definitely a foodie and eat my way around the world . Here in Madrid, you’ll find me enjoying tapas and cañas in a terraza or looking at art in museums and other exhibitions.
I can’t wait to teach and learn with you! Hope you will buzz your way into a Live Lesson with me soon .
