Eliot, British trans man living in Berlin (he/him pronouns)

Hi all, I’m Eliot, a British trans guy who’s been in Berlin since 2014. I speak English, German, Japanese and Esperanto and I can understand a lot of French. Why did I want to learn Esperanto? It’s a language my German boyfriend and I started studying together so we would both have the experience of being a non-native speaker when we communicate!!

I’ve been an English teacher for 11 years but I also have two other careers I am passionate about. One is working as a tour guide. I lead history tours through bunkers here in Berlin from the time of the Cold War and WW2. It’s a very intense and moving experience for our guests but I also manage to include some jokes  I am also training to be a psychotherapist, a career-change inspired by losing my tourism job because of the Corona pandemic.

I’m originally from Yorkshire in the north of England. It’s beautiful: lots of dramatic scenery and stark beauty. I also spent 5 years in Osaka, Japan which is my favourite city in the entire world. Ask me more about it in our lesson. If you’re up for it, we can sing some karaoke together, in English, naturally.

Looking forward to meeting you all

Hi Eliot,
nice to see you. I am also new here in chatterbug, but I am not a teacher. I like to learn English. I can speak German and that’s all.
Have a good time and sorry for my English!

Hi Klaus,
Those videos about Fastenwandern are really interesting! Have you ever taken part? I like that it is also so current, though the listening comprehension got challenging when the man was talking about the vegetable broth with his mask on! Certainly a new challenge in language learning these days!

Hello Amanda,

I have participated 5 times so far. I have also registered for this year (01.05.-07.05)!

I very much hope it can take place.

Here’s hoping, fingers crossed! I’m fasting for a week starting after dinner today! Let’s hope our lesson on Thursday isn’t about food

Hi all, I won’t be tutoring much starting in July because I got my job in the bunker museum back! Maybe I’ll see you some time for a tour in English  Or in the next lockdown, although I hope that won’t be the reason. Happy English learning!

Hi Eliot :grinning:
I’m Hyerim. Congrats back to the bunker. But I’m sorry that I can’t learn English from you.
I look forward to seeing you again as an English teacher. Until then, I’ll be studying English hard.
Good luck always with you!
