Ignatius from Nigeria

Hello everyone, my name is Ignatius, but you can call me Iggy. I was born in Nigeria, grew up in the UK and for the past 4 years, I have called Germany home. English and Yoruba are my native languages and I learned German to C1.

Language learning did not come easy to me but rather it is something I worked hard for and earned with sweat and tears; sometimes happy tears :joy:. And it is worth it, the liberation that comes with knowing a language is immense.

I enjoy reading manga, ballroom& Latin dancing, cooking, and baking. Currently, I am in a phase where I bounce between trying different chocolate chip cookie recipes and experimenting with savory butternut squash recipes. Both not “Summer Body” friendly but it seems that this summer will be spent locked down anyways.

For the learners:
In a foreign language, even the simplest of situations such as, ordering a cake at a cafe or answering the phone become huge barriers to living a normal life. On your epic Chatterbug journey to “find your voice”, I hope to empower you with the confidence and knowledge to :ear: listen carefully and :lips: speak freely.

With Chatterbug at your side, nothing need come between you and that carrot cake with buttercream frosting - which you deserve! :cake::waffle:

I look forward to playing my part in your journey.

Iggy

Hi Iggy!,
Welcome to Chatterbug! HAHA glad I’m not the only one who cried while learning German (happy and otherwise ), but you’re right the hard work makes the reward so much sweeter in the end!
What mangas do you like to read? I just finished Parasyte (Kiseijū) and am contemplating reading Ranma 1/2 again or finding something new.

Hi JoAnn!
 The journey of language learning, with its ups and downs, unites all learners in a strange but beautiful way.
Hmm, that is a hard question. Based on the two mangas you mentioned, my assumptions are that you: like main characters who transform, like action with good character progression, and are not afraid of gore. Safe picks: Tokyo Ghoul, Attack on Titan, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime/Tensei Shitara Suraimu Datta Ken, and Chainsaw Man.

Hallo, Iggy  Willkommen! I can’t completely relate with you, learning a language it’s something that involves effort and happy tears when one finally can achieve the goal. Learning German is a challenge so congrats on that C1 . Happy to have you here and have fun with your LL :hugs:.
