Subscription renewal and pause

Hi,
We were just wondering how the subscription renewal process works?
We wanted to upgrade our subscription for the new month, but hadn’t done it yet, because we still had a couple of days left on the existsing month.
But then received notification yesterday that the subsciption has just been renewed.
When exactly does this happen? And how can we now upgrade?

A second question involves pausing a subscription, which we will need to do for the next month due to all our various holiday events. How do we go about doing this, and when should we do it?

We look forward to your reply

Hi @RobynS !

It’s very easy to switch plans or cancel your subscription with Chatterbug. Just click on your username on the left-hand sidebar :point_right:t4: Payments :point_right:t4: and click on ‘upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription’ under the plan summary.

Upgrade your Plan

You can upgrade your subscription at any time and your credits will immediately reset to the new plan. Any unused time from your old plan will be prorated onto your next invoice.

Say you’ve been on the Lite plan for two weeks and now want to upgrade to the Serious Plan. Your credit count will immediately reset to 8 and you’ll be charged €140/$160 minus half of what you paid for the Lite plan. Since you did not use up your Lite subscription in full, you basically pay a little less next month.

Downgrade your Plan

You can downgrade at any time but the new plan will only kick in at the end of your current billing cycle. If you downgrade from Serious to Lite in the middle of the month, you will remain on the Serious plan for two more weeks before your subscription resets automatically to the new plan.

Pause subscription?

It’s not possible to pause a subscription but you can cancel or reduce your subscription at any time (see here). Chatterbug saves your progress and you can create a new subscription / top it up again as soon as you want to continue learning.

If you have any questions regarding studying with Chatterbug, I’m happy to help, so please don’t hesitate to reach out via the Community forum or the little yellow box  !
