Annemarie from Germany

Hey everyone,

I am Annemarie from Cologne. I grew up in the town of Aachen, right on the border with Belgium and the Netherlands, but I have been living in Cologne for many years now. I have a Bachelor in Musicology and Philosophy and I now study the same subjects, Music and Philosophy, “auf Lehramt”, that means “to become a teacher”.

If I had to describe myself in one word, then I would choose the word “philanthropist”. I love human beings and I want to get to know and experience the diversity of humanity as closely as possible in my life. So I find it incredibly exciting and inspiring to get in contact with people from all over the world - culturally, culinarily, musically, ideologically, linguistically and of course personally. I think that we can all learn a lot from each other, and that it greatly enriches our lives when we are open to ways of thinking, living and being, that are different from what we are used to.

That’s what motivates me, on the one hand, to teach German in different language schools and, on the other hand, to learn other languages myself. For example, I studied in Italy for a while, where I learned Italian and learned to love Italian culture and the “dolce vita”. My current project is the Spanish language, which I hopefully will be able to speak fluently one day. Let’s see in which country my life will lead me in order to deepen my Spanish skills. Life remains exciting
