I could imagine that the children’s book called “Valerie und die Gute-Nacht-Schaukel” by Mira Lobe with it’s superb rhimes is nice to read for a German beginner but reading a children’s book is not everyone’s cup of tea.
Do you know of any other books that might be of interest?

Looking for books that match your level can definitely be a challenge. When I started learning German I actually read some segments from the newspaper or magazines! (events happening in town, job search, apartment/ house search)
I think When I was between end of A2 and beginning B1 I had the confidence to choose a book. My favorite was “Wunder” by Raquel J. Palacio (originally in English and has been made into a movie!). It’s targeted for children between 10-12 so there is a good story line and the language is easy enough to understand but also includes new vocabulary!

Hallo to everyone 
I have a suggestion…There are several children books about an old man called Petterson and his cat Findus. They are written and illustrated by Sven Nordqvist (a Swedish architect) the publishing company is Oetinger. They are so funny and illustrated with so many lovely little details! Even if you dont understand everything at the beginning, its a lot of fun to study the drawings! Believe me it`s fun to read them even as a grown up!!! Some titles: Wie Findus zu Petterson kam/ Eine Geburtstagstorte für Findus/ Ein Feuerwerk für den Fuchs/ Petterson zeltet/ Findus und der Hahn im Korb etc. (Level A2/B1)

mucho gusto yo también soy colombiana y soy tutora en Chatterbug. Como tu el alemán ha sido un desafío 
. A mí me sirvió empezar con libros como los de la abeja maja y luego libros de novelas conocidas. No sé qué nivel tengas exactamente, pero Hummeldumm es un libro muy divertido que quizás te pueda servir. Qué estés bien

a student of mine said that she read a book by Michael Ende/ “Die unendliche Geschichte” ( the never-ending story ). It’s written for young adults and also made it into a movie. Just like “Momo”
