Will the certificates received from Chatterbug be valid/recognized as a language proficiency for the Residence Visa purposes in Berlin (It requires CEFR B1 proficiency)?
Hey Bronwen,
Thanks for your question! While Chatterbug is not officially recognised by the German authorities, we know of several cases where our certificates / documents were accepted for visa or other official purposes. As far as we can tell, this depends largely on the individual case worker you’re dealing with (and probably how they personally assess your German skills.)
So in short: we can’t promise that your Chatterbug certificate will be accepted, but you’re welcome to give it a go. If you would like us to issue additional signed documents (e.g. a course enrollment confirmation), you can request these by reaching out to our support team.
Otherwise, if you’d prefer to play it safe, we’d recommend taking an officially recognized exam, such as the Goethe certificate. If you’ve completed B1 on Chatterbug, you should be well prepared for this.
Just let us know if you have more questions or need further support
Best,
Tom
