Today 60 years ago 13.08.1961 the GDR ( DDR in German ) started building “the wall” ( die Mauer ). The link is to the Berlin war memorial ( Gedenkstätte Berliner Mauer ).
My father went in 1962 with a friend to Berlin ( coming from the west ), because he wanted to see with his own eyes that they - the GDR - are really going to do this. Here’s a picture from him back then and in 2017 once the wall was long gone at almost the same spot:

Hey Janina!

So I don’t live in Berlin but I visited recently and we went to this stunning restaurant called CROCODILLO! The food was insane and the restaurant itself is so cool! It’s a whole culinary and visual experience. Highly recommend.

Hi @Janina

I’m not that often at “Friedrichstr.” in Berlin, but today I had an appointment close to the “Weihnachtsmarkt” at Gendarmenmarkt …at least I thought it is there :joy:, but they changed location for this year to Bebelplatz / Unter den Linden :christmas_tree:

My appointment was at
