“Der Spaß kommt zuletzt” I guess it is translated “Fun comes last.” The question, can it be translated as “Fun comes at last” if not, how would a real german express the second statement? thank you very much in advance!

@mike9736 I would indeed translate it that way. Some of those expressions have their origin many years ago, when hard work was the most important thing in peoples’ lives.
Here are similar ones:
- “Zuerst die Arbeit, dann das Spiel / Vergnügen.” (First work, then you can play)
- “Arbeit macht das Leben süß” (Work makes your life sweet)
- “Schaffa, schaffa, Häusle baua, Hund verkaufen, selber bellen” (dialectal idiom, means: “Just work, work, build your house, sell the dog and bark yourself instead”
)

. Ich finde diese Satz besser “Lernen macht das Leben süß”, aber leider mussen wir auch arbeiten…

Du kannst das vielleicht so sagen: “Arbeit macht das Leben süß, aber Sprachenlernen macht es noch viel süßer.”
