To follow with our “désambiguïsations” series, today we are looking at the difference between the words copain and ami.
Ami is used to describe a friend that is pretty close to you.
Copain is more related to a person you know and like, but with which you don’t share an especially close relationship. Copain can also be used as a translation for boyfriend.
