German word: Spaßvogel

If someone just can’t stop clowning around they would resemble a bird trying to get someone’s attention, right? Well, at least that’s the logic in German

The opposite is “Spaßbremse”, by the way…

Is there an equivalent of the English “Odd Duck”, for a very strange person?

Ja … komischer Vogel.
Was bist du denn für ein komischer Vogel?!

In which situation have you used “Spaßvogel” already? Can you give examples?

I have used it but mostly in a sarcastic way, for example

Na Du bist ja ein Spaßvogel.

I rarely use it in a positive kind of way for someone i think, hahaha

True, we often use it when somebody makes a bad joke or jokes around too much
