Happy International Women's Day! πŸ‘©πŸ‘©β€πŸš€πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“πŸ‘΅

Today, March 8th, all around the world :world_map: we commemorate Women’s Day. On this day, we celebrate the achievements of women, but we also raise awareness of the struggle we face living in a world without gender equality and why as a society we must continue to seek equality for all.

There are many women who have changed the world :star_struck:, for example: Simone de Beauvoir, Marie Curie, Rosa Parks, Malala Yousafzai and Rosalind Franklin.

There are many more, so I would like to know if there is a woman you admire and why?

Einen schΓΆnen Weltfrauentag zusammen!

I’d like to mention Astrid Lindgren, because she gave kids all around the world a strong young female heroine to identify with.

Here’s my favorite quote from her:
β€œPippi (Longstocking) embodies my own childhood longing to meet someone who has power but does not abuse it.”

A woman I personally admire is Marie Forleo.
:dancer:
She wrote a wonderful book that inspired me a lot. :closed_book: (Book title: Everything is figureoutable).

Marie is a coach and encourages people to believe in their dreams and figure out how to turn them into reality. https://www.marieforleo.com/ :hugs:

(Good discussion! :slightly_smiling_face:
I would just like to point out that, in French at least, it is not β€œla journΓ©e de la femme” (Woman’s day), it is β€œla journΓ©e (internationale) des DROITS deS femmeS” (day for the RIGHTS of womEN) - it is about celebrating the fight for the rights of women, and as women are different people and not a homogeneous group, it is β€œfemmes” (women) in plural form.)

Merci, @JuliaD, great explanation :hugs:. It is very interesting how this sentence can change so much in different languages. I just made the correction .
