Hi
Can someone please tell me the difference between these two verbs? I am familiar with the first one but Chatterbug has marked one of my replies wrong and given the second verb as the answer.
freuern/erfreuern
Many thanks in advance.

Hi @chriscompton, the verbs SICH FREUEN und SICH ERFREUEN have a very similar meaning.
Maybe some examples are helpful!
I´m enjoying sth. right now:
Ich freue mich, dass die Rosen schön sind = Ich freue mich über die Rosen = Die Rosen erfreuen mich = Ich erfreue mich an den Rosen.
SICH FREUEN AUF means that sth. enjoyable is coming in the future:
Ich freue mich AUF das Ende der Quarantäne.
In the end, you can always use “erfreut” as an adjective made out of a Partizip II:
Guten Tag, mein Name ist Susana Distancia. - Sehr ERFREUT, Sie kennen zu lernen, Frau Distancia!
Danke sehr, sehr Hilfsbereit
