Languages spoken and how you learned them

I speak Spanish as it’s my mother tongue. I learned English in school, and I had extra language classes since I was 14 years old. Later on, I studied Modern Languages at the university, where I improved my English proficiency. During my last semester in my bachelor’s, I started to learn German, and since 2017 I’ve been living in Germany and learning the language

When did you start tutoring with Chatterbug?

I started tutoring Spanish, June 2018

Favorite place in the world and why?

My favorite place in the whole world is Bogotá (Colombia) at night. There is something magical about my city - the mountains, the buildings, and all the lights - make Bogotá at night, a really special place; it’s almost like you feel anything is possible there.

Sandra’s Favorite Food

Colombian food will always be for me #1. That’s why my favorite food is “Arepas”. They are made out of corn flour, and all you need to do is to mix it with water, butter, and cheese. It is delicious and even better when you combine it with scramble eggs or avocado and chicken.

  1. I’m good at baking desserts.

How do you motivate students?

I like to congratulate my students when I have noticed they have learned new words, new phrases, or conjugated some verbs better. Furthermore, I like to invite them to get involved more with the language, including simple steps, like reading the news, watching videos in Spanish, and more.

What is your favorite Chatterbug moment?

I have two favorite Chatterbug moments :). One is to see my regular students’ improvement and see how they feel more comfortable speaking and understanding me day by day. My other favorite Chatterbug moment is related to Instagram, and it’s to learn new words with creative illustrations on the Chatterbug Instagram account. I feel that thanks to the illustration, I can remember better what the words and expressions mean.

What’s your favourite place in Germany? Can you also find colombian food there?

That’s a difficult question :sweat_smile:. Germany is a beautiful country. I would say I have many favorite places, specially the forests :evergreen_tree:

I’m lucky :blush: here in Germany are many African, Asiatic or Latin-american stores, and usually I can find my products in those stores :raised_hands:.

Hola Sandra, un gusto leerte! Siempre me alegra ver y leer a tantos colombianos en Chatterbug. Yo también vivo en Alemania y viajo (viajaba) seguido a Hamburgo, es una ciudad maravillosa!

¿Qué es lo que más te gusta de Hamburgo y que comida extrañas más? Yo extraño los jugos y el mango con sal.

Hola, Estefania :blush: Sí yo sé, qué chévere que seamos varios colombianos ya en la plataforma. Si vienes a Hamburgo avísame y podemos ir por un café o una empanada (cuando los lugares colombianos vuelvan a abrir) :grimacing:.

La verdad me mudé hace poco, entonces no he podido descubrir mucho de Hamburgo como me gustaría, pero me encanta sentir que estoy en una ciudad grande y que se consigue de todo; ya sabes como en Bogotá. Mango con sal que deli :drooling_face:. A mí me hace falta la guanábana y los chocorramos :cry:.

Cool, well to be honest I’ve been trying to get better with Catan (Don’t know if you know it) but I don’t know “pandemic”. What a name for today :upside_down_face: but maybe I’ll give a try it’s always cool to try new games :smiley:.

Board and card games are my healthy addiction! :grimacing: I love Catan, it is one of my favourite board games, but I also love Risk, Party&Co, Cranium, Taboo, Rummikub, Bang!, Mogel Motte, Schummel Hummel, Jungle Speed, Allegra, Jaipur, Dixit, die Werewölfe, Uno, Inkognito, Trivial, Durak, Jenga… :heart_eyes:
I recommend all of them! :ok_hand:t4: I wish we could play together! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
