Robyn from Cape Town, currently in Switzerland

Hello! My name is Robyn.
I am from Cape Town, South Africa, and I am 45 years old. For many years I have specialized in education as I like helping people to learn. Teaching is not only my profession but also my hobby. In addition to this, I like spending time with my family and two children, exploring the outdoors, etc. We enjoy travelling and being active with a variety of different sports activities.
English is our home language, but we’re actually tri-lingual, as we speak German and Bulgarian too. (I also still remember some Afrikaans from my earlier years.) I enjoy meeting new people and learning about different cultures. If I had more time, I’d like to pursue my interest in writing short fiction stories, and spend more time experimenting in the garden.
I hope you enjoy learning English and would be happy to help you online during a Live Lesson!

Thank you, Klaus. It was an interesting lesson, and you told lots of great stories.

Welcome, Robyn! What a nice bio, what kind of veggies do you grow in your garden?

Hi JoAnn, our favourites are tomato, cucumber, beetroot, potato and raspberry. I am also preparing baby spinach. Next year I’d like to try asparagus  The carrots are somehow unsuccessful, although that would be my next goal, as well as fresh coriander - I love to use it when cooking.
Are you also a veggie gardener?

Amazing! Growing asparagus must be quite the task. Just from watching the asparagus fields in Germany it seems pretty involving.
No, I’m just a house-plant collector for now but have always been interested in gardening! :woman_farmer:t5:

Hi Robyn ! Nice to have you here ! Where in Switzerland do you live ? I grew up very close to the borders between Germany - Switzerland and France ( das Dreiländereck) only some minutes away from Basel

Kind regards,

Yasmin

Hi Yasmin, we’re sort of in the centre, if you make a triangle between Bern, Basel and Zurich, our biggest town nearby is Olten.

Hi There @l.franke :relaxed:. Being new, brings us to have some questions of course, and I would like to give you a tip on how your first lesson will be .

Usually you will see, once the Live Lesson is confirmed by a tutor, his/ her name in the yellow zone. You can click as well on his/her name, and you will be able to see his/her profile.

I would like to share with you as well what to expect in your first Live Lesson, and it’s all here in this link: https://help.chatterbug.com/l/en/article/zelvrk2ubz-live-lessons-what-to-expect. The most important part is to have fun while learning :happyllama:. Have a nice day!

Hi, Robyn. I’m not sure if you have been to Boracay Island in the Philippines. Where you the one who left the review for Beach Hut Bar some years ago? I just saw your name here. I am learning German here.

Hi Gerriemay, sorry for the late reply. No, it wasn’t me. I haven’t been to the Philippines, but I once taught a student from there. How is your German studying going?
Best wishes, from Robyn

Hi Robyn, I forgot the class my apologies, also I had a busy morning at work with no availability to take the class.
