My name is Romy, and I’m a native German speaker living between Indonesia and Malaysia since 2013. I studied Business Management in the UK and spent much of my career working in sustainable energy as I produce coconut charcoal as an eco-friendly alternative to conventional wood-charcoal.
Languages and cultural exchange have always played an important role in my life. Having lived and worked across Europe, the US and Southeast Asia, I’ve experienced firsthand how language connects people and opens doors to understanding new perspectives. At the moment, I also dive deeper into learning the local language, since English is widely spoken. I know exactly how exciting (and sometimes challenging!) the process of learning a new language can be.
Teaching my mother tongue, German, is something I deeply enjoy. I love helping others discover not just the structure of the language, but also the culture, humor, and expressions that make it so rich and alive. My approach is patient, encouraging, and always focused on building confidence through real conversation and practical learning.
I’m thrilled to be joining the chatterbug-community and look forward to meeting students from all around the world. Let’s make learning German fun, engaging, and something you truly look forward to — Schritt für Schritt and always with a smile!
