Same same but different: a tough cookie

Hi All,

With more than one year living with the pandemic, aren’t we all a bit of a tough cookie??
How do you say this expression in your language?

In Russian we use the same as in German.

The pandemic has turned us into grumpy cookies sometimes as well . I just made that one up but yes in Spanish we say “hueso duro de roer” and we use it a lot to describe our teachers at University.
