I don’t know how May has been treating you so far, but here in France, we definitely had some hard core rain days already!
Do you know other funny ways to describe a rainy day?

My father would say “Il pleut comme vache qui pisse” but that’s not very elegant…

In English you can also say “It’s bucketing down!”

Man könnte auch sagen: “Es regnet Bindfäden” (it is raining cords)

In Spanish one could also say: “llueve a mares” 
Here in Germany is the same, it’s raining a lot and even if it’s sunny then it rains again 
.
