Not quite a mixup but kind of, some dude at a party responded to something I said with: “Das habe ich überhört…” Now, this is a pretty clear way of saying “I’m just going to ignore what you just said.” 
I clearly didn’t get the gist, because I thought they had simply not heard me… so I repeated what I said, just louder
