¡Hola a todos !
After some time at home, I wanted to share with you some facts about my homeland. Sometimes what you know about a country is not always true… or maybe it is.
I must say Colombia is known for its good weather, but remember we are near to the equator, which means not all the cities are the same.
This, for example, is Bogotá in one of its lovely and usual rainy days :
If you visit Bogotá, you could hear phrases such as:
- “¡Qué frío! ” (It’s cold!)
- “Ese sol es de lluvia ” (This sun means it will rain later.)
But if you travel a couple of hours to another region, you can find a warmer place like this:
By the way, the river’s name is “Río Magdalena”. It is 1.528 km long and crosses most of the country.
Another fact is that our food is delicious . We have an extended variety of fruits and vegetables. Furthermore, our soups are as well quite interesting, we like to put avocado or even banana on top . But this one, in particular, is a traditional one called “ajiaco”. The avocado and rice you see on the side are also added to the soup
And of course the “arepas”, we like to eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner
Last but not least, Colombia is rich in different minerals such as emerald, copper, and gold. In fact, in Bogotá, you can find the Gold Museum (El Museo del Oro) and there you can discover how the indigenous people used to work with gold in order to do a variety of customs, masks, tools, and more:
Finally, if you have any questions or if you would like to share any facts about Colombia, please feel free to do it .
