Earning language certificates in Chatterbug is easy and automatic. Once you finish the last unit in a level and start the next one our system will check your Live Lesson history and, if you’ve passed the criteria, you will be sent your CEFR certificate. Instead of a single, final test, we evaluate the amount of work you’ve done toward that level.
To earn your certification, you must successfully complete at least 50% of the Live Lesson exercises from all units of a specific level with a tutor. Most of our levels have around 250-300 exercises, so at least 125-150 Live Lesson exercises need to be verified as successfully completed by your tutors. After each exercise, your tutor quickly notes how comfortable you were with the material, and you need to get a fair score on 75% of the exercises. To complete C1 level a student has to add at least 50% of the units to their course and be verified as proficient in 75% of the exercises from those units.
Continuous assessment (instead of a final exam) means that even if you have a bad day or encounter a tutor / topic that you don’t click with, you’re still able to demonstrate that you can communicate about and understand the material for most of the level. You will be given the option to review Live Lesson exercises, so you can always re-do an exercise until you feel comfortable with the material.
Certifications are only available to subscribing students, as they are mainly based on Live Lesson interactions. Once you meet the requirements, you will be emailed a congratulatory notification and can share your certificate with your friends, family, and coworkers. Our certifications and coursework are aligned with CEFR standards and will display the CEFR level that you’ve qualified for (A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1).
