Chatterbug offers officially recognized Educational Leave (Bildungsurlaub) Courses for those employed in Germany, allowing you to transform your language skills while taking paid time off work.
How does it work?
We offer 5- and 10-day courses which take place Monday to Friday, including 5x 45-minute Live Lessons each day. These are live video sessions on the Chatterbug web platform, one-to-one with a tutor. Usually, participants follow our recommended schedule:
- 9:30 - Live Lesson
- 10:30 - Live Lesson
- 11:30 - Live Lesson
- 12:15 - lunch break
- 13:00: Live Lesson
- 14:00: Live Lesson
Learn more about Live Lessons here.
Throughout each day, participants are also required to complete 45 minutes* of Self-Study activities. These are grammar concepts, flashcards, videos and short reading/writing tasks. They can be done at any time via your Chatterbug dashboard.
What will I learn?
The exact content you’ll learn will depend on your level (e.g. B1), which you’ll set when you create your Chatterbug account. Our curriculum content is adaptive, meaning your Live Lesson exercises and Self-Study activities automatically adapt to support your personal progress.
You’ll find an overview of our levels here.
How do I book an Educational Leave Course?
Please submit the form on our Bildungsurlaub landing page to request a course! A Learning Experience (LX) advisor will get in touch with the next steps.
*Participants in the German state of Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen) must complete 90 minutes of self study activities each day.
