Chatterbug courses currently cover CEFR levels A1 (Beginner) to C1 (Advanced). Each level will take on average 60 Live Lessons to complete, which means a total of 45 hours of live tutoring and 30 hours of Self-study, or 75 hours total. For each lesson, you’re generally expected to prepare by studying vocabulary and grammar in our self study system for an average of 30 minutes each.
A1 (Beginner)
Our A1 level is intended for complete beginners, meaning no previous knowledge of the language is necessary. Topics covered are family, food, making appointments, the body and other basic subjects. At this level you will have a basic ability to communicate and exchange information in a simple way. This level is aligned to the CEFR standard.
A2 (Elementary)
Our A2 level is for speakers who’ve already acquired some elementary skills. The topics covered in this level are hobbies, vacations, jobs, and more complex introductions.
At this level you will have an ability to deal with simple, straightforward information and begin to express oneself in familiar contexts. You can engage in routine conversation on simple predictable topics. This level is aligned to the CEFR A2 standard.
B1 (Intermediate)
The Chatterbug B1 level is for lower intermediate speakers. Things like apartments and housing, shopping, games, advantages and disadvantages are covered here among other things.
At this level you will have the ability to express yourself in a limited way in familiar situations and to deal in a general way with non routine information. You will be comfortable in a wider range of general conversations. This level is aligned to the CEFR B1 standard.
B2 (Upper Intermediate)
B2 is for upper intermediate speakers. Here you will study topics ranging from friendship, home life, and love, to culture, luck and much more.
At this level you should have capacity to achieve most goals and express yourself on a range of topics. Most people consider B2 language skills to be basic fluency. This level is aligned to the CEFR B2 standard.
C1 (Advanced)
Our C1 level is for advanced speakers. The topics covered in this level range from business & work to culture (literature, film, photography), interpersonal relationships, and the sciences.
At this stage, you will be able to express yourself flexibly and effectively in social, academic and professional settings. This level is aligned to the CEFR C1 standard.
