How does Chatterbug’s interface work?

On the left of your Chatterbug home screen is a menu bar from which you can access your course, Live Lessons, achievements, flashcards, and personal account settings. Below is a breakdown of everything you need to know about it!

1. My Course

In the A1 to B2 levels, Chatterbug adds all available units for your level to your study deck. You can choose to preview future units and even do some of the self-study for them, but your Live Lessons will always be pulled from the unit marked as “currently learning”.

In the C1 level, however, you are the sole judge of what you’ll study. Chatterbug has prepared a number of self-contained units for you to choose from, which you can add to your study deck via the ‘My Course’ section. You can choose to add one unit at a time or study several at the same time, but to advance towards your C1 level certificate, you will need to complete all the activities in that level, meaning you will be required to do all of the Live Lesson exercises in each unit.

The My Course section also allows you to review content from previous levels thanks to a drop-down menu.

2. Live Lessons

The scheduling page allows you to book Live Lessons both at random and with specific tutors of your choice. If you choose any of the offered slots on the calendar, you will be matched with a tutor who’s available at that time.

If you’d rather request a lesson with a favourite tutor*, you can do so by filtering your lessons by specific tutors and booking the slots that suit your schedule. For example, if you want to only see slots when tutors Scarlett and Esmeralda are available, check the boxes next to their names to see only their slots.

*To learn how to favourite Chatterbug tutors, read the support entry at this link.

3. Achievements

The Achievements section offers an overview of your progress and of everything you have learned so far. Here you will find the video and chat from your Live Lessons if you’ve chosen to have them recorded, a list of all the grammar concepts you studied, and an overview of recently completed readings, media and writing activities.

4. Flashcards

You have two options to learn new words and phrases. First, you can let Chatterbug show you a random set of vocabulary by clicking on Flashcards in the menu bar. Here, your study cards are picked randomly from several units and you might even see some cards from other levels that were not yet mastered.

The second option is to go straight to a specific unit and study only the vocabulary that’s relevant for that unit. To access your unit-specific study deck, head to your Unit :point_right:t4: Vocabulary :point_right:t4: Study Now.

5. Account settings

Your account settings, payment information, billing details, plan, and language settings can be found at the bottom of the side bar. To access the former two, simply hover over your username, and to add a new language or switch to a different course, hover over the language flag just above your username.

You can reach out to the support team during the week via the yellow chat box in the bottom, right-hand corner of your screen - we’re always happy to answer your questions!

Happy learning! :mortar_board:
